Men and Women: A mutual partnership ?

I wonder at times society raises girls to look for a potential rich life partner who can take care of them and keep them happy forever.  My question to you is...Are girls incapable to take care of themselves or why do they need extra person to keep them happy ? Aren't the girls looking out for someone who can understand them and be supportive of their dreams ? In fact what they are looking is a partner in crime .lol....!!

If the baggage of expectations from the society and parents are removed, everything would seem so simple. Many women fail to understand their own needs and become more of time machine for others needs. The endless adjustments and sacrifices becomes their daily ritual. Its time that everyone understands that women are not anybody's property to claim and no women should bend to the whims and fancies of the uneducated lot. What happened to the concept of living to your full potential and understanding their rights..?

The young girls need to be taught to take their own decisions, think scientifically and brought up to lead an independent life so that they can decide for their future. The extreme stress of being a superwoman in this era is exhausting  ie. to be a professional, amazing wife, good mother, respectful etc. Only if men can come forward and act to their rescue by becoming good husbands, fathers and good bosses. And its quite clear that we need our men in our lives, as their place is equally important and satisfying.  The concept of women empowerment doesn't say that women are better than men or vice versa. I think both the sexes should be equally treated and given an equal opportunity to express and take collective decisions.

The marriage/relationship should be a mutual partnership. Both men and women should remember not to give control of their lives to each other. I probably agree to the statement, "The best way to help someone is to help them reveal the greatest version of themselves."

Tip of the day: Empower to become a power couple  !!

Bhutan: A land of happiness

I have always wondered what makes Bhutan one of the most peaceful country in the world. It is inticing to understand how the country's prosperity and progress is measured by the happiness of people. Bhutan has proved its own unique way of conscentious good life. The throbbing positive vibes of Bhutanese people filled with warmth and happiness has a life of its own. I have stayed in Bhutan for 3 years during my teenage years and when ever I visit Thimphu; the sparkling happy smile on my face never disappears. I can affirm this splendid place has an unforgettable aura.

I still remember walking to school on foot, the distance measured by crossing three mountains and a wooden bridge on Thimphu river on my way to Yangchenphu High School, Thimphu. I cannot forget the cool breeze of rainy season and the clouds whispering in my ears as I walked down the roads with surprising rain showers. The splendid display of the flowers in summers only leaves one with long lasting impression of nature and amazing beauty of the valley.

My journey towards spirituality and meditation started while circumambulating the Memorial Chhorten Temple among the elderly Bhutanese people reciting the mantras which led me to inner depth and purpose of life. The symbolic display of multicoloured flags placed all over signifies the five wisdoms of Buddhism, which keeps the good harmony between body and mind. The city still does not operate on traffic signals; the people just follow the human safety and rules habitually. The cinema and TV had been introduced just a few years back. The traditional national outfit (Kira and Gho) is practised in schools, colleges and Government offices preserving their core cultural inheritance.

Bhutan doesn't flaunt the big multi complex shopping malls with International brands but the market area sells original Bhutanese products like  wooden bowls, gold and silver jewellery, hand woven textiles, sculptures, Buddhist Paintings etc.  The country's main revenue depends upon hydroelectric power, agriculture and forestry, craftsman ship, cottage industry, tourism etc.

I often question myself, can spirituality and economy grow together? Absolutely, definitely slow but never reverse. The core spirituality raises productivity by fostering individual traits such as honesty, work ethic, virtuous behaviour etc. It also promotes education and knowledge which often leads to equality for women and social upliftment. In 1970, His Majesty, The Fourth King of Bhutan, Jigme Singye Wangchuck emphasized on holistic well being of the people and redefined his country's Gross Developmental Index as Gross Happiness Index .... Extraordinary !!

Emotional Health of the doctors

The theme for Doctor's day this year stands "Lessen the mortality of COVID 19". The era has a challenge of its own. The deadly virus is spreading fast and the hospital beds are falling short to the number of patients. At the same time, doctors don't have the luxury of holding themselves at home to protect themselves from an outbreak. They must go to work everyday, attend to the patients and expose themselves to the potential risk. A lot of them have voluntarily separated themselves from their families to keep them safe. The level of stress they put themselves daily is immense and it should not come as surprise that their emotional health is in jeopardy. Plus the uncertainty and fear of their personal COVID 19 status; positive or negative everyday .....Lol !!..

But my biggest disappointment comes when the community see them as a potential threat due to stigma or fear; and even their families abandoned by community because of the possible infection brought from hospital ! Fear is a normal reaction in situations of uncertainty. But sometimes the fear is expressed in ways which can be hurtful. Many doctors have been beaten outside hospitals and few of them denied a proper burial. This is making the already challenging situation far more difficult.

Be empathetic to doctors; don't discriminate them because of your fear of spread of virus. They need your support, compassion, kindness, respect and gratitude. Acknowledge the role they re playing to save lives and keeping your loved ones safe. Always remember that people pay the doctor
for his trouble; for his kindness they still remain in his debt !

Tip of the day : Treat doctors as humans too !!

Beware of the Narcissist manipulators

Today I want to talk about one rare topic, effect of narcissism which we all experience at one point of time without realizing their toxic presence in our lives. The story begins with getting into a complete faith and trust in a particular person or by expressing your vulnerable self to a manipulator. Only to realize later the emotional exhaustion that happens resulting in anger, frustration, depression, career eviction etc.

Narcissists are the people who knows exactly how to win over your emotions, extract the sympathy out of you only to manipulate you further into their benefit; totally misusing the concept of relationship as they lack a sense of empathy or an ability to understand other people's emotions. The reasons behind it remain undiscovered.  But they are quite clever in destroying the self confidence of the victim, make them redundant and are able to suck out the positivity. You might find them in your personal relationships as a family member or at work. While the situation might look different for other people and the people might misjudge the you by looking at the emotional turmoil you are passing through.

My advise to you  is nobody in this world is actually bothered about your pain, so step up yourself and push away the pressure and pain you are suffering from this narcissist person and begin your own journey. A person doesn't need to be in your life if he doesn't respect your needs, growth and personal space.  You don't have to become the person the narcissist wants you to be; you have your own life, choices and you
lead them independently. Don't deny yourself of the happiness that you deserve and wipe away the hatred virus out of your heart...it might kill you !

Tip of the day: Be in complete harmony with your soul !!

Love you All....Amrit.

Beauty Pageants : A platform for confidence ?

I have always been fascinated by the winning crown since my childhood and I felt it belonged to "The most beautiful woman on earth who have won over all her struggles; pushed away all the negativity around her and has ultimately won over her confidence and self faith". This has been my version of winning the crown and the title. And it almost went in similar fashion for me with few up and downs...Lol.

But the significance attached is different to different people. Some people take it as an ego after they have ignored for years by their family members, some people who have extra money to throw away somewhere and some who feel pageants are gateway to stardom and movies.

When I visited my International Pageant, I learned pageants are a mean to earn scholarships for higher education; as a mean for self grooming and even a way to attain confidence in terms of  stage fear etc. Even some actually use the platform to do some significant social work.

The public view and the organizers play an important role in shaping the future of the beauty pageants. We don't have to slut shame or even objectify them by the size and weight. What is more important: the person's  character (Inner beauty) or the person outer beauty ?  I have seen many women broken, cheated and depressed  after loosing in the competition.

My question to you is "Are beauty Pageants so bad" ? NOPE.  Participating in a beauty pageant is  a talent; like writing, designing, architecture, medicine...etc. Not everyone can do the catwalk or have the patience to stand on their stiletto for hours together; design their own style or attitude on stage or even face the media or public confidently. Its a journey not everyone has the capability to handle. Its time we redefine the stigma attached to it and achieve a better balance where we provide a platform for self confidence; and the significance is attached to healthy diet, etiquette, communication and public speaking. Lets provide a safe place for this talent growth.

Tip of the day : Being a beauty Queen is a blessing !!

Congeniality Title: An Honour beyond recognition.

In beauty Pageants, congeniality is the most important title to be won as the vote are counted from the participants and the judges have the least power in deciding the winner. It is absolutely difficult to get a vote from your competitors. You cant make everyone happy !!

Today I wanted to share my story which made me win the congeniality title in an International Pageant. I will not be disclosing the identity of the person so as to not to hurt anybody's feelings. During days of competition, I found myself at the cross roads on the 3 rd day of the pageant, when a contestant suffered a sudden attack of status epileptics during the interview session. I couldn't help her with her medications so  I actually accompanied her to the local hospital, stayed with her even when all her friends had abandoned her. I waited for her to get stabilized and then barely managed as the last person for the pageant interview on my own !!

Everything in beauty pageants is a competition, right from the simple queens dinner to photoshoots till the the final evening gown round. But still there are few things which can never be compared or copied and these are genuinity, humility and patience that remain untouched by any unscrupulous deception.

I stood by her no matter what; as the humanity need to have an upper hand over the competition.

Tip of the day: Human spirit is a moral responsibility !!

Love you All...

Doctor turned model is not a crime..!!

Let me introduce myself, I am a Pathologist and an International Beauty Queen, an honor I m extremely proud of !! It is usually considered Doctors can never be fashion models and if they are; they can never be good doctors.

U know what, I proved them all wrong !! I finished my post graduation in Pathology, co-authored a book with 20 scientific papers. Then I couldn't contain my passion and I participated in Mrs India Beauty Queen 2015 and then subsequently won Mrs United Nation International 2016. And I knew nothing about fashion industry.

Fashion motivates me, styling gives me energy and the being on stage gives me power. Walking in stiletto to the walk I learnt, makes me feel sexy and in control. Representing my country at an International Platform is a dream come true for me.

I would like to leave a tip  : Dress up well everyday; it gives positivity and if anybody stops you...turn a deaf ear or tell them to shut Up !!

Love you All..
