But the significance attached is different to different people. Some people take it as an ego after they have ignored for years by their family members, some people who have extra money to throw away somewhere and some who feel pageants are gateway to stardom and movies.
When I visited my International Pageant, I learned pageants are a mean to earn scholarships for higher education; as a mean for self grooming and even a way to attain confidence in terms of stage fear etc. Even some actually use the platform to do some significant social work.
The public view and the organizers play an important role in shaping the future of the beauty pageants. We don't have to slut shame or even objectify them by the size and weight. What is more important: the person's character (Inner beauty) or the person outer beauty ? I have seen many women broken, cheated and depressed after loosing in the competition.
My question to you is "Are beauty Pageants so bad" ? NOPE. Participating in a beauty pageant is a talent; like writing, designing, architecture, medicine...etc. Not everyone can do the catwalk or have the patience to stand on their stiletto for hours together; design their own style or attitude on stage or even face the media or public confidently. Its a journey not everyone has the capability to handle. Its time we redefine the stigma attached to it and achieve a better balance where we provide a platform for self confidence; and the significance is attached to healthy diet, etiquette, communication and public speaking. Lets provide a safe place for this talent growth.
Tip of the day : Being a beauty Queen is a blessing !!
